COCHIGUAZ - Travelling into the geomagnetic centre of the earth, I am expecting to feel something more cosmic as I enter Chile's Valle del Elqui. In the weeks before my trip, just about anyone I mention it to has a story about the valley's mystical energy and extraordinary healing powers. But the scenery certainly makes up for what the drive lacks in cosmic reactions. Valle del Elqui is an oasis tucked amid the foothills of the Andes, just south of the Atacama Desert. Stretching from 50km to 100 km west of La Serena, in ChileÂs fifth region, it is a narrow strip of fertile land covered with plantations of papayas, and chirimoyas and vineyards. In stark contrast, the green valley floor is surrounded on both sides by steep mountains of desert-like dryness, lined with cacti. With article: "
